Born intersex in Los Angeles to parents of Black Creole, Mexican, Jewish, and German heritage, Davis adopted her name in homage to radical Black feminist Angela Davis. Her art dismantles sanitized, whitewashed versions of queer and Chicano culture, instead reclaiming space for mess, beauty, and righteous rebellion.
