Description

Strawberries and Snow by Michelle John is a paperback fantasy romance that blends forbidden magic, political intrigue, and a slow-burning love story between two men caught in the machinery of power.

Sylvarin is a human slave raised inside the royal household of an Incubus clan. Among immortal masters who feed on desire and treat humans as expendable, survival means staying invisible. Silent. Obedient.

When Sylvarin is ordered to spy on the clan’s youngest prince, he knows exactly what his master expects: manipulation, betrayal, and absolute loyalty. Disobedience is not an option.

But Prince Ushi is nothing like the monster Sylvarin imagined. A rebellious vintner who prefers vineyards to court politics, Ushi is intelligent, lonely, and quietly dangerous. As the two grow closer, Sylvarin begins to discover something even more dangerous than love—power. Fire magic, ancient and forbidden, burns within him.

When Sylvarin’s magic is revealed, the consequences are immediate. Escape becomes their only chance at survival. Together they flee across the Wasteland toward Avalon, a distant abolitionist city where freedom is promised—if they can live long enough to reach it.

Hunted by former masters and pursued by enemies on every side, Sylvarin must decide how far he is willing to go to protect the man he loves. Saving Ushi may mean embracing the power his masters tried to crush—and burning their empire to the ground.

Contributor Bio:

The first novel Michelle John ever read was ‘The Wizard of Oz’ when she was six years old, and she has been fascinated by the intersection of fantasy and girl power ever since. As soon as she figured out the proper way to hold a pen she started writing stories about princesses who rescue dragons from evil princes. She hasn’t yet found a reason to stop. Her style may have changed a bit since kindergarten, but in the twenty-five years of her career, she has never found a more interesting story to tell than that of a heroic young woman who saves the day.
